Dr. Michael Cary Cavalier Spirit Award

One of the primary goals of our Athletic Association is to develop good sportsmanship in our student-athletes. To show them the importance of sportsmanship in a tangible way, the Athletic Committee has instituted the Dr. Michael Cary Cavalier Spirit Award. The Award is given annually to two 8th grade student-athletes (male and female) in either the School or Faith Formation (Religious Ed) Program. Recipients are selected based upon demonstration of exceptional dedication to their team, their effort in practices and games, and their Christian attitude toward teammates, opponents, and coaches.

To be considered for the award, players must be nominated. Coaches, parents or other participants or observers of the athletic program can make nominations. Players in any of the sports offered at Christ King (volleyball, basketball, track & field and softball) are eligible.

The nomination deadline is in May each year, at which time the nominations are reviewed, and the recipients determined by a subcommittee of the Athletic Committee consisting of the chair, vice-chair, and volleyball, basketball, track and softball coordinators along with the 8th Grade and Religious Education Representatives. The subcommittee also seeks advisory input from the pastor, school principal and 8th-grade homeroom and faith formation teachers.

If you have questions or comments about the award, please email the current Athletic Director, Theran Motl.

In all events, please remember that nominations are accepted for 8th grade students only.
