They went out and preached the gospel fearlessly and carried out the mission Christ had given them. Later, they laid hands on others to strengthen them as well (Acts 8:14-17, 9:17).
The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the Sacrament of Baptism. If baptism is the sacrament of re-birth to a new and supernatural life, confirmation is the sacrament of maturity and coming of age.
The Church teaches Confirmation is a true sacrament instituted by Christ and different from baptism. It is administered by laying-on of hands and anointing with chrism accompanied by prayer. The chrism is blessed by the bishop and the bishop administers the sacrament. All baptized persons can and should be confirmed. The effect of the Sacrament of Confirmation is to give strength in faith and for the confession of faith and to impress an indelible character.
For Youth
Each spring, our parish’s 11th graders celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation This includes public high school teens previously enrolled in our Tosa Trio faith formation program for 9th and 10th grades (from Christ King, St. Bernard and St. Pius, members of our Tri-Parish Collaborative) as well as students attending Catholic high schools. To be confirmed, students must meet the following commitments:
- Have attended Religious Education classes for one full year prior to the celebration of the Sacrament (unless attending a Catholic High School)
- Classes beginning in September of student’s junior year
- A two-night confirmation retreat
- Service hours to the parish and community

For Adults
Adult Catholics who have not been fully initiated in the faith through the Sacrament of Confirmation are invited to participate in a special program culminating with confirmation on the Solemnity of Pentecost. For information, please call the Parish Office at 414-258-2604.
