I have been teaching kindergarten for thirty years. Christ King has been “my home away from home” for 8 years as a student and 14 years as a teacher. Education is a gift that lasts a lifetime, and I want to awaken a child’s love of learning and create joyful school memories. Christ King allows me to create respectful, caring bonds with the children and their families, which makes for a wonderful kindergarten experience. Join us as together we play more, laugh, hug and work hard. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am happy to say I have been an educator at Christ King School since 2006. I believe strongly in Catholic education and have been very fortunate to have worked as a Catholic school teacher for my entire career. Every day I look forward to guiding, stimulating and encouraging my students through carefully planned activities that allow them to interact and learn with and from each other. The classroom is our living laboratory where we discover and learn through experimentation and investigation. We sing, dance, play, read and create every day! Kindergarten should be a happy time for everyone, therefore, open communication and partnering with our outstanding parents is paramount to a successful year. I feel so blessed and can’t imagine working anywhere else!
Let the fun begin!

I have 13 years of teaching experience in Kindergarten, and this is my 9th year at Christ King School. My husband Dave and I have been parish members since 2007. Our youngest child currently attends CK and is in eighth grade. Our three older children graduated from CK and are now a Sophomore and Senior in High School and a Freshman in College. Christ King truly feels like my home away from home. When I am not teaching, you will see me around campus at Mass, sporting events, and community gatherings. My teaching position enables me to give back to the very same loving community where we are raising our children. For as long as I can remember I have always been around children and found myself being inspired by their energy and love for learning. With each new teaching year, I look forward to the new hearts and minds I will touch in my class. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Hello!
My name is Coleen Hernandez. I teach first grade here at Christ King! I have eight years of catholic school teaching experience with this being my second year at Christ King. I feel blessed to have been provided with the opportunity to work in such a wonderful environment where I can meet the individual needs of every student while forming great relationships with parents! It is a gift to be immersed in such a supportive, tight-knit school/parish community.
I was raised in Fond du Lac, WI. There, I went to catholic schools throughout my entire schooling experience: preschool through college. I went to St. Mary Springs Academy for grade school/high school and then attended Marian University to achieve my bachelors in education. I played college basketball and look back on those memories fondly! I am married to my husband, Daniel Hernandez, and we have three children, Rylee (4th Grade) Grace (1st Grade) and Danny Jr. (2 yrs).
My free time is spent with family and friends. I also love to work out and watch Wisconsin sports! I feel so blessed to be a teacher here at Christ King and look forward to making a memorable impact on all the lives of the children that are under my care.
Best,
Mrs. Coleen Hernandez

I have many years of teaching experience as a primary teacher. I became a teacher because I wanted to get young children excited about learning. I enjoy watching young children learn to read and have the whole world open to them through literature. Preparing 2nd graders for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a special time for both the children and me. Christ King is a caring, welcoming, community of people who make everyone feel at home. I am happy to help parents and students in any way I can. Please never hesitate to contact me.

This will be my seventeenth year teaching at Christ King! I began my career here teaching first grade, and am now thrilled to be teaching second grade. I am excited to help prepare our young people to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. I love working with all children knowing that I can make a positive difference in their lives. My favorite part of working at Christ King is the sense of community I feel with the parents and staff. I have also been a parishioner here since 1992 and really enjoy teaching where I worship. I am always available to assist parents and other visitors with any questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hello! My name is Madeline Ogren and I am so excited to be joining the Christ King community as the new third grade teacher. I recently graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in English. Prior to Madison, I attended Catholic Memorial High School where I played soccer and participated in the school musicals. I am a member of St. John Vianney parish which is where I attended grade school. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and watching Wisconsin sports. I also love to hike, camp, and spend time outdoors. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and becoming part of such a welcoming and faith filled community.

Hello parents, students and staff and parish members of Christ King. I am Thomas Peterson, the new addition to your school. I have been a teacher for six years at two scools within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. I am very excited about being at Christ King.
Teaching is my second career. My first career started in Janesville Wisconsin as a police officer. I spent 15 years as a patrol officer and five years as an undercover narcotics officer, loaned out to the Illinois State Police.
I received a B.S. from UW-Stevens Point and my teaching certification from Cardinal Stritch. I am married to Mary Kay and live in Brookfield. I have a son Andrew, who teaches 3rd grade in the Milton School District, a daughter-in-law who also teaches in the Milton District and two step children, Ben (works and lives in Madison) and Emily (works and lives in Chicago). My interests are triathlons, running and traveling. I am so excited to be a part of this school. I look forward to meeting you all.

My name is Katie Dorrington, and I am thrilled to be back in the classroom at Christ King! I have previously taught both fifth and sixth grades at Christ King, but I have been home for the past several years with my own six children. I will be lucky enough to have five of them in the school building with me as I return to work. Christ King is home for me. It is the place where I have been a parishioner my whole life, went to grade school, and was married to my husband, Brian. I have always considered teaching to be my vocation, and I look forward to being with my fourth grade students each day.
When I'm not at school, I will likely be driving a carpool, cooking dinner, or watching a child's sporting event. Please wave or say hello if you see me in church or around the neighborhood. I can't wait for a great year!

Hello! My name is Jenna Oimoen and this is my sixth year teaching fifth grade at Christ King! I graduated from the University of La Crosse with a major in Elementary Education and minors in Spanish and Teaching English as a Second Language.
Teaching has always been my passion because I love creating meaningful relationships with my students and helping them become lifelong learners. I am proud to be a part of the Christ King community that is filled with wonderful educators and families! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hello Christ King Parishioners and Families! My name is Laura Riegg, and I will be teaching 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts for the 2020-2021 school year. After attending St. Matthias Parish School for K4-8th grade and recently graduating from St. Norbert College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, I am looking forward to combining my love for the Catholic faith, Christ-centered relationships, and English into one career! When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy discovering new music, reading, attending concerts and Brewer games (pre COVID-19, of course!), and spending time with my family and friends. I am blessed to be part of the Christ King community and am greatly looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible very soon!

Hello! My name is Alli Meuler, and I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts. I am excited to be joining the Christ King family! This will be my 15th year teaching middle school English. For the past eight years, I taught at St. Mary Parish School in Hales Corners and before that I taught at Notre Dame Middle School in Milwaukee. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and a Master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University. I have lived in Milwaukee since graduating from MU but just moved to Tosa this summer. When I am not working, I love playing outside with my two kids Isabelle, who is almost five, and Josiah, who just turned one in July, cheering on the Golden Eagles with my husband, John, spending time with friends and family, and listening to audiobooks while I run. Teaching English is something that I am extremely passionate about, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share that passion with the Christ King community.

After teaching the 4th grade at CK for eight years I am now in my second year as the middle school social studies teacher. It has been great to have some of my former students again and see how they have grown both academically and personally. With the election and all that is going on in the world, we will have a lot to talk about this year. I am also a parishioner at Christ King and have participated in a number of ways from coach to scout leader. My first CK class graduated from high school this year and I have enjoyed following all of their accomplishments.

I am excited to start my third year of teaching at Christ King School. My path to Christ King began when I received my undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Before deciding on teaching, I worked as a Field Biologist in Oregon and I spent a year as a teaching and research intern at a Field Station in Australia. It was here that I decided that combining science with teaching was the career for me. I received my teaching certificate in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Broad Field Science from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I also just finished my Master's degree in Education at UWM. Being a graduate of St. Luke School and Catholic Memorial High School, I am proud to now be a part of the Catholic environment at Christ King.

I graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 2014 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and I will soon have my 316 reading license. This will be my seventh year teaching K4 at Christ King. Teaching our little learners has always been a passion of mine. Each day is an adventure, and I truly admire the students’ eagerness to learn and explore new things. I truly appreciate the continuous support from the staff and families at CK, and I am so proud and blessed to be a part of this school community. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about our program.

Hello! This is my eighth year teaching music and my fourth year at Christ King School. I’ve wanted to be a music teacher ever since I was in 6th grade band. I love teaching kids that music is found in every subject area from Science and Math to Language Arts and History. My favorite part about being at Christ King School is the community we have here. We are all here for the same purpose and work together to achieve that goal. I’m honored to be a part of this community of educators. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible

I am very excited to embark on my ninth year of teaching, and my sixth here at Christ King. What excites me even more is this will be my second year as the Physical Education teacher! I have always been involved with sports and been active, so this is a true passion of mine. Passing on my love of sports and activity is my goal for the year! Watching students grow not only in their abilities in the gym, but also as individuals is one of the reasons I became a teacher. Outside of school, I love to golf, the occasional bike ride, cheering on all University of Michigan athletics, and yard work! Yes, I do enjoy that. I also have my first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
