I have been an educator since 1985. I have a varied teaching background in both special education and regular education. I have taught students anywhere from K3 to the University level with the bulk of my experience being in early childhood education. It has been exciting to help facilitate the new K3 program at Christ King. Everyone I have encountered within the Christ King community has been quite kind and has made me feel welcome.
My name is Jennifer Lancaster. I have been an Early Childhood educator since 1994. I received my undergraduate degree from St. Norbert College and my Masters in Education from Carroll University. I have been a Christ King parish member since 2000. My husband, Mark and I have four lovely daughters. We enjoy spending time together playing a variety of sports. I love teaching because I love learning why students learn the way they do. The Catholic atmosphere embraces our creativity and having God in our daily lives makes each day special. We depend on the roles of our parents to create a successful classroom. Here’s to a great year together!
I have been teaching kindergarten for thirty years. Christ King has been “my home away from home” for 8 years as a student and 14 years as a teacher. Education is a gift that lasts a lifetime, and I want to awaken a child’s love of learning and create joyful school memories. Christ King allows me to create respectful, caring bonds with the children and their families, which makes for a wonderful kindergarten experience. Join us as together we play more, laugh, hug and work hard. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
This will be my sixth year teaching K4 at Christ King. I am currently attending Mount Mary University where I'm obtaining my reading license. I finished my last class in July, and I’m now working on my portfolio. My favorite thing about working at Christ King is the support from families and staff. There is such a strong sense of community and, I feel truly valued and appreciated as a teacher. I absolutely love working with the little ones and couldn’t see myself working at any other grade level. They are so curious and eager to learn new things!
I am thrilled to be a part of Christ King School! Walking the halls brings back wonderful memories of my own Catholic school education at St. Mary's and Lourdes Academy in Oshkosh. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from UW-Madison, and have been a Christ King parishioner for more than 20 years and also served as a religious education teacher. As a mom of three children, I know the importance of these formative years, and I can't wait to get to know the students and help make their school experience a happy one.
I am happy to say this marks my 12th year as an educator at Christ King School, the past ten being spent in kindergarten. I believe strongly in Catholic education and have been very fortunate to have remained in the field for more than 30 years. Every day I look forward to guiding, stimulating and encouraging my students through carefully planned activities that allow them to interact and learn with and from each other. The classroom is our living laboratory where we discover and learn through experimentation and investigation. We sing, dance, play, read and create every day! Kindergarten should be a happy time for everyone, therefore, open communication and partnering with our outstanding parents is paramount to a successful year. I feel so blessed and can’t imagine working anywhere else!
I have 12 years of teaching experience in Kindergarten, and this is my 8th year at Christ King School. My husband Dave and I have been parish members since 2007. Our youngest child currently attends CK and is in seventh grade. Our three older children graduated from CK and are now a Freshman, Junior and Senior in high school. Christ King truly feels like my home away from home. When I am not teaching, you will see me around campus at Mass, sporting events, and community gatherings. My teaching position enables me to give back to the very same loving community where we are raising our children. For as long as I can remember I have always been around children and found myself being inspired by their energy and love for learning. With each new teaching year, I look forward to the new hearts and minds I will touch in my class. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
I have seventeen years of teaching experience at the first grade level. This is my fifth year at Christ King School, and I am so excited to be here. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in first grade! I love working with children knowing that I can make a positive difference for them each day. My goal is to create a safe, fun learning environment where all kids succeed. Christ King feels like a second family to me. The staff, parents, and children create a warm community like no other. I am always happy to speak with families about Christ King. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
My name is Coleen Hernandez. I am so excited to share that I have been offered the 1st Grade teaching position here at Christ King! I have taught in Catholic education for seven of my nine years of experience. I am so blessed to have been provided with the opportunity to work in such a wonderful environment where I can meet the individual needs of every student while forming great relationships with parents! It is a gift to be immersed in a supportive, tight knit school/parish community with such a rich history.
I was raised in Fond du Lac, WI. There, I went to catholic schools throughout my entire schooling experience: preschool through college. I went to St. Mary Springs Academy for grade school/high school and then attended Marian University to achieve my bachelors in education. I played college basketball and look back on those memories fondly! I am married to my husband, Daniel Hernandez, and we have three children, Rylee (3rd Grade) Grace (5K) and Danny Jr. (1 yr). I'm excited to have Rylee and Grace attend Christ King as well and they can't wait to make new friends!
My free time is spent with family and friends. I also love to work out and watch Wisconsin sports! I feel so blessed to be a teacher here at Christ King and look forward to making a memorable impact on all of the lives of the children that are under my care. Thank you and I can't wait for a great year!
I have many years of teaching experience as a primary teacher. I became a teacher because I wanted to get young children excited about learning. I enjoy watching young children learn to read and have the whole world open to them through literature. Preparing 2nd graders for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a special time for both the children and me. Christ King is a caring, welcoming, community of people who make everyone feel at home. I am happy to help parents and students in any way I can. Please never hesitate to contact me.
This will be my sixteenth year teaching at Christ King! I began my career here teaching first grade, and am now thrilled to be teaching second grade. I am excited to help prepare our young people to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. I love working with all children knowing that I can make a positive difference in their lives. My favorite part of working at Christ King is the sense of community I feel with the parents and staff. I have also been a parishioner here since 1992 and really enjoy teaching where I worship. I am always available to assist parents and other visitors with any questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
My favorite history teacher inspired me to decide to become a teacher during my senior year of high school. I went to UW-Madison and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in Political Science. I am entering my seventh year of teaching and my sixth year of teaching 3rd grade at Christ King. Previously, I taught a year of 4th grade in Stevens Point. I absolutely love 3rd grade and I aim to inspire my students to become lifelong learners! I love that Christ King is an incredibly welcoming and caring community that works together for the enrichment of all students! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Hello parents, students and staff and parish members of Christ King. I am Thomas Peterson, the new addition to your school. I have been a teacher for six years at two scools within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. I am very excited about being at Christ King.
Teaching is my second career. My first career started in Janesville Wisconsin as a police officer. I spent 15 years as a patrol officer and five years as an undercover narcotics officer, loaned out to the Illinois State Police.
I received a B.S. from UW-Stevens Point and my teaching certification from Cardinal Stritch. I am married to Mary Kay and live in Brookfield. I have a son Andrew, who teaches 3rd grade in the Milton School District, a daughter-in-law who also teaches in the Milton District and two step children, Ben (works and lives in Madison) and Emily (works and lives in Chicago). My interests are triathlons, running and traveling. I am so excited to be a part of this school. I look forward to meeting you all.
My name is Katie Dorrington, and I am thrilled to be back in the classroom at Christ King! I have previously taught both fifth and sixth grades at Christ King, but I have been home for the past several years with my own six children. I will be lucky enough to have five of them in the school building with me as I return to work. Christ King is home for me. It is the place where I have been a parishioner my whole life, went to grade school, and was married to my husband, Brian. I have always considered teaching to be my vocation, and I look forward to being with my fourth grade students each day.
When I'm not at school, I will likely be driving a carpool, cooking dinner, or watching a child's sporting event. Please wave or say hello if you see me in church or around the neighborhood. I can't wait for a great year!
I graduated from UW La Crosse in 2014 with a major in elementary education and minors in Spanish and teaching English as a second language. My career at Christ King started immediately after graduation when I long term substituted for both 5th grade teachers, which eventually lead to a full-time position. This year I am excited to start my fifth year teaching 5th grade at CK! Teaching is my passion because I love creating meaningful relationships with my students and helping them become lifelong learners. I have been blessed to work in an environment that is so welcoming and instills the same values I cherish. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
Hi! I have been a classroom teacher for the past five years, but have worked in a school setting as a long-term volunteer and a teacher’s aide for a total of eight years. I am incredibly excited to be returning for my third year at Christ King School! Christ King is a welcoming, faith-filled community that truly follows its mission of seeing Christ in others. Being the second oldest of seven kids in my family, I have always enjoyed helping and teaching children. My favorite part of teaching is passing on the Catholic faith and values I treasure to the students I have the privilege to teach. If there is anything I can do to help or any questions I can answer, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I have been very blessed to be a Catholic educator for the past 26 years. During my 26 years in education, I have spent 14 years as a Catholic school principal and 12 years as a Catholic school teacher. This is my third year of teaching middle school Religion at Christ King, and I am very excited to bring the teachings of the Catholic faith to the students. I enjoy the daily contact with the students, and their energy and enthusiasm is contagious. I am always open to parent communication, so please be free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
I went to Boston College for my undergrad degree and didn’t realize until I was a junior in college that I wanted to be a teacher. Being so far into my four years, my dad found me a nice graduate program at Madison where I could get my Masters with certification. Immediately I went there after graduation and that is where I got certified in teaching.
My first teaching job was with Milwaukee Public Schools in Bayview where I taught fourth grade for three years. I then moved to the West Allis West-Milwaukee school district where I taught third and fourth grade for four years. Following that, I stayed home with my kids for about 10 years.
When my son was in sixth grade I applied to be the middle school math teacher at Christ King and that has been my job ever since.
Each year is different and I look forward to all the things I learn each year, which help me become a better teacher.
This school year marks my ninth year of teaching and my sixth year at Christ King School. After spending time in theater and nonprofits, I decided to follow my passion for children and helping others by becoming a teacher. My favorite aspect of teaching is getting to know my students. Christ King has been a rewarding place to work because I always feel valued by the students and families of this community. Please contact me via e-mail with any questions you have.
I have ten years of teaching experience. This is my seventh year at Christ King School. I love seeing that light go on when a student makes a connection and understands something in a new way. I am also a parishioner at Christ King and have participated in a number of ways from coach to scout leader. I love watching our students grow and become productive, involved young people in our parish and community. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.
I am excited to start my second year of teaching at Christ King School. My path to Christ King began when I received my undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Before deciding on teaching, I worked as a Field Biologist in Oregon and I spent a year as a teaching and research intern at a Field Station in Australia. It was here that I decided that combining science with teaching was the career for me. I received my teaching certificate in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Broadfield Science from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. I am currently finishing my Master's degree in Education . Being a graduate of St. Luke School and Catholic Memorial High School, I am proud to now be a part of the Catholic environment at Christ King.
I feel extremely blessed to say that this will be my 36th year at Christ King School! I came to Christ King in 1981, left for one year in 1984 to take a position in Austria to sharpen my skills in teaching German, and returned again to Christ King to resume teaching middle level English/Literature as well as German. I currently teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade literature and look forward to everyday I spend with my students and colleagues! We approach the study of literature, classic as well as modern, through avenues of history, psychology, theology, and philosophy through critical thinking, creative writing, and go beyond print to real world application. I think of my students as did the famous philosopher, writer, and teacher, Goethe viewed his relationship with others, “Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being.” Please do not hesitate to email me or feel free to call if you have any questions, concerns, or needs. We are all family at Christ King, and we can overcome any obstacle. More importantly we achieve great things in the name of God for our children when we work together!
As a native Spanish speaker, born and raised in Lima, Peru (South America), I’m eager to share not only my love for the language but its Hispanic culture and traditions. After attending the American School of Lima I went to Hope College in Holland, MI and obtained degrees in both International Studies and Spanish. As part of my studies and previous job, I was able to travel abroad and spend time in other countries, allowing me to value even more my knowledge of speaking another language. My family and I moved to Wauwatosa almost seven years ago. Casey and I have been active parish members ever since and feel blessed to call Christ King community our extended family. We have three children attending Christ King. I love to travel, cook, read, exercise, dance, watch movies and spend time with friends and family.
Hello! This is my fifth year teaching music and my first year at Christ King School. I’ve wanted to be a music teacher ever since I was in 6th grade band. I love teaching kids that music is found in every subject area from Science and Math to Language Arts and History. My favorite part about being at Christ King School is the community we have here. We are all here for the same purpose and work together to achieve that goal. I’m honored to be a part of this community of educators. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
I am so very excited to be starting my eighth year teaching, and my fifth at Christ King. This is a big year, as I transition to Phy Ed. As a life-long lover of sports (participating and coaching), it is a perfect fit! Outside of school, I am an avid golfer and a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I am truly looking forward to sharing my love of sports and games with all the CK students. Watching them grow in their abilities is one of the reasons I became a teacher. GO CAVS! Go Pack Go!
I have been teaching for sixteen years and have been a member of the Christ King Congregation for the last six years. I consider libraries my "home away from home" and love getting lost in a good book. I enjoy the kindness and compassion of the people of Christ King and I look forward to helping your child develop a life-long love of reading. I'm happy to work with parents in selecting good reading material for your children, feel free to contact me.
I am your new Extended Care 3K teacher and Director of the Extended Care program! I am 25 years old. I grew up in a Slovenian-American Catholic home. I learned from my family, through example, the true meaning of living our faith, which means giving of yourself to help others. Teaching is one of the richest rewards, and I look forward to getting to know all of you and I'm excited to begin teaching here at Christ King School!
