All About Nineteen!

March Reading Logs- There are two reading logs. One is a color-in reading log for every 15 minutes of reading. The other is more focused on early literacy concepts, such as author/illustrator, letter sounds, and rhyming words. Reading logs are due at the end of each month.

Show and Tell on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Homework Reminders:

Homework is due (preferably) the following Monday.

Please label all homework items with your child's name. Any completed homework items will receive a sticker!

At the end of K4, we would like students to be able to consistently and correctly say and do the Sign of the Cross. We have been working on and will continue to work on the Sign of the Cross in the classroom, however, any additional practice outside of school would be very beneficial and helpful. If you could, please take some time to practice this with your child. You could even have them try practicing while looking at themselves in a mirror. :)

Wednesday Wireless Folder

If your child is the oldest or an only child, they will bring home a Wednesday wireless folder along with their daily folder. (It's a blue, plastic folder.) Please return the folder by the following Tuesday.

Library Books

On Mondays, students can check out a book from the school library. These books will have a bar code to indicate that it is from the school library.

Library books are due the following Friday so that students can check out another book. If you're book is past the due date, I will send home a reminder from our librarian, Mrs. Bark!

Students are also able to check out books from our classroom library. These books will have the name Ceschi on the inside cover and will have a chevron card holder in the back. These can be brought back at any time.

Birthdays

March 31st- Tucker Temeyer

If you have a summer birthday, please let me know when you would like to celebrate.

Parties

If you are volunteering for a party this year, please keep any activities (art project, game, etc.) around 15-20 minutes. Large group activities are preferred, but we can also make small group activities work. You are welcome to use any classroom art supplies including paper, scissors, glue, paint, etc. Please let me know ahead of time of your plans so that I can prepare for the day accordingly.

Volunteering

All classroom volunteers and field trip chaperones must complete Safeguarding training. Please contact the office for more information.

The website for volunteer opportunities can be found here: http://signup.com/go/jFZMoNM

Scholastic Orders

Class Code: NP3DT

Online Scholastic book orders are due March 18th.

Star of the Week

Details:

The Star will get to wear the special Star necklace for the week, and they will get to pick first for jobs each day. We will also be doing several special activities over the course of the week:

Monday- Family poster (presented to the class and displayed in the hallway)

Tuesday- Name Game (played on the Smartboard)

Wednesday- All About Me book (presented to the class and kept as part of our classroom library)

Thursday- Favorite Book (to be read to the class by Mrs. Bruskiewicz or a special guest)

Friday- Star Reward (receive certificate and prize)

Guidelines for Family Poster: The family poster is a place for the Star of the Week to share family photos. You may choose which photos you would like to share, how you would like to display the photos, and how you would like to decorate your poster. Please include no more than 6 photos. For each photo, please provide a brief description of the event and or persons in the photo so that I can help describe the photo if needed. Here are some ideas for photos to include: A baby picture, a family photo, something you enjoy doing together, a vacation photo, birthday celebration, etc. You do not have to use these ideas. These are simply suggestions. If you have other ideas, feel free to share them on the poster!

Guidelines for All About Me Book: The All About Me Book is a chance for your child to share more about themselves as an individual. I will send home the 6 pages for the All About Me Book. The format is fll-in-the-blank and drawing. Please color and complete the pages. These projects are an opportunity for families to work together and have fun! Please encourage your child to help out as much as possible in the completion and sharing of these projects. Encourage them to do the things they do in the classroom (example: coloring, drawing, pasting, cutting) and help them as necessary.

*Please note these are optional projects. The schedule of activities for the week and the “due” dates are fexible. If you would like more time to complete something (i.e. Family Poster, All About Me Book), please take the time to do so. I will provide the All About Me book to you the week before so you have time to complete. If you are having a special guest come in to read, please let me know ahead of time so we can coordinate a time for them to come in. You are also welcome to bring in a special snack to share with the class.

Thank you for taking the time to share more about your child with our class. If you have any questions about the Family Poster, the All About Me book, or any other Star of the Week activities, please don't hesitate to ask.

Star Schedule:

If your particular week does not work for you, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try to switch with someone else. Otherwise, we can always schedule a later week.

Reminders

We will be going outside during the winter months, unless the temperature or windchill is too cold. Please remember to bring winter gear (snow pants, boots, hats, and mittens) on snowy days or if there is snow on the ground. For safety reasons, if there is snow on the play structure students will not be allowed to go on the structure itself (i.e. slides, bridge, steps, etc.). However, students will be able to play in the snow surrounding the structure.

Please remember to wear shorts or leggings under uniform jumpers.

If you haven't done so already, please bring in an extra set of clothes to keep at school.

If your child is absent or late for any reason (i.e. sick, travel, appointment, etc.), please notify the school office.

On inclement weather days: Please drop students off in South Hall in the morning at 7:35am. Pick-up will be in the main lobby.

K4 Happenings

3/15- We had our St. Patrick's Day party! We made silly leprechaun masks, ate shamrock cookies, and listened to some St. Patrick's Day songs!

3/18- During the season of Lent, we will be using our Resurrection eggs to tell the Easter story. So far, we have opened two of our eggs- the first contained a donkey (to represent Jesus coming to Jerusalem) and the second contained a cup (to represent the last supper).

3/19- We learned the phrase "In like a lion, out like a lamb." We learned that lion weather is cold and stormy, while lamb weather is warm and sunny.

3/20- We learned about the colors of the rainbow and we put them in order by making our own rainbows using construction paper, paper plates, and cottons balls. They turned out so beautiful! :)
