Food Drive Benefiting the Community Food Pantry

The annual Lenten Food Drive begins March 16/17 and continues through March 30/31. All donations will benefit the Tosa Community Food Pantry, which serves residents of Wauwatosa and is located in Saint Bernard Church. Items always in demand include tuna, beef stew, vegetables and fruits, cereal and pancake mix and syrup. Regular size cans (not oversized) are best suited for pantry clients. Please place your donations in the bins at either church entrance.

CRS Rice Bowl

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our Christian journey through Lent and Christ King’s support of Catholic Relief Services, specifically CRS Rice Bowl.

So what’s Catholic Relief Services (CRS)?

Catholic Relief Services is the United States Catholic Bishops’ official overseas relief and development agency which began in 1943 and currently serves over 85 million people in 101 countries worldwide! Its mission is to alleviate human suffering and foster charity and justice worldwide with the Gospel of Jesus as its driving force. CRS assists persons solely on the basis of need; not creed, race, or nationality.

An amazing 94 cents of every dollar goes directly to the poor in these key areas: Emergency Response, Agriculture, Health, Education, Microfinance, Water & Sanitation, and Partnership & Capacity Strengthening!

HERE IS HOW CHRIST KING PARISHIONERS CAN HELP…

All you need is your family CRS Rice Bowl and its Lenten Calendar! Keep both near your dinner table during Lent so that you and your family can refer to its prayers and insights each night.

*PRAY Use the Lenten Calendar and the CRS Rice Bowl app. What is each day’s message? How does it connect to the life of your family? crsricebowl.org

*FAST Follow the Milwaukee Archdiocese guidelines for fasting and consider other ways to sacrifice on behalf of the poor and hungry of the world.

*LEARN Read about the countries and people highlighted each week by going to crsricebowl.org . Your donations will go to help these people and many more in need. Who are they? Where do they live? What do they do?

*GIVE Put your donations in your CRS Rice Bowl: coins, bills, or checks made payable to Christ King (Attention CRS in the “Memo” portion of your check.) Discuss with your family why giving charity and living the Corporal Works of Mercy is what Jesus calls all of us to do. View videos and other resources at crsricebowl.org to learn more.

What a meaningful and joyous way to celebrate Lent!

Check out the many activities, videos, and educational opportunities CRS provides by going to www.crsricebowl.com

Please bring your CRS Rice Bowl donations to school, church, or the rectory on or before Wednesday, April 17, if possible. You can so write out a check to Christ King Parish and in the memo portion put Attn: CRS Rice Bowl.

GOD BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO CRS RICE BOWL THIS LENTEN SEASON!
