From the Office:

Student Retreats:  At the start of each year, students in the middle school participate in a retreat experience.  Our 6th graders will be going to Mount Mary for their day of reflection on Thursday. The 8th graders will be going on the Ropes Team Building experience on Friday, September19th.  Let's pray for them as they take time to reflect.

VIRTUS:  The term VIRTUS and what it means has changed to Safeguarding All God's Children. Approximately, four times a year an article comes out for all staff, parents and volunteers to read.  Attached to this newsletter, is the first article for the 2008 - 2009 school year.  Please read it and then return the half sheet of  paper by Tuesday, September 30th, indicating that you have read the material.  Thanks to all those new volunteers who are getting certified before you begin your work here at school.

Gift Wrap Assembly:  The second of our fund raisers will begin with an assembly on Tuesday, September 23rd in the afternoon.  It is important that families choose what fund raisers they participate in during these first weeks of school.  Remember the magazine sale is 40% profit and the gift wrap is 50% profit.  Between both fund raisers families are asked to raise a minimum of $100.00 profit. Once again, I thank you, in advance,  for what you have done so far and I encourage you to reach your goal within the next few weeks.

Book Club News!  First of all, thank you to those who have responded and from the enthusiasm I sense, it sounds like it's going to be a great year of Literature.  We are still in need of a parent to take the 6th grade girls and the 7th grade boys book club lead!  Thanks for your gifts, talents, and time.  You are a blessing!

So we really need your orders now!  Thanks!!  Ann, Maria and Judy

Gold C Coupon Books:  Thank you to all who have turned in their payments/orders.  For anyone who still has some books out, please send the payment to school or turn in the books.  If you need extra or any Entertainment books, they are still available.  (For every 5 Gold C books sold, the 6th is free.)  This sale benefits the Christ King Home and School.  Thank you!  Deb Foley (258.4805) and Gina Obscherning (773.9146).

Health Room:  Thanks to all of the parents who have volunteered to assist in the health room.  We are still in need of a few more volunteers for the program.  If you are interested, please contact either Judy Peck or Katie McNabb to see what is required.

New Health Room Volunteers:  Last week a manila envelope was sent to you in your child's backpack.  A DVD and instructions were included. Please view this material and call me when you have finished.  If anyone has a DVD that does not perform let me know and I will send you another copy.  Also, some information sheets were sent to one of you by mistake.  If you have them, could you please send them to Carol in the school office.  Thanks!  Judy Peck 414.774.7540

Campbell’s Labels for Education:  Welcome back to another school year.  When you buy all your Campbell’s products, continue to save the labels.  Coupons for the products can be “doubled” on Wednesdays at Pick ‘n Save or at Sentry on Thursdays and Fridays.  Send the labels, etc. to the school office separately or glue upc’s to the collection sheet in the booklet.  There is also a bonus point coupon on the back.  Please send that back to school, too.  For all the points redeemed, we are able to order educational school programs or playground equipment.  So thank you for saving and turning in these labels.  Any questions, please call Ann Swan @ 414.258.5622.
