From
the Office
Attached to
this memo, you will find the new calendar for the month of November.
Please review it carefully as there have been some changes made from the
previously posted calendar.
VIP Day and Scrabble® Game Winners: The Christ King School VIP Day,
2008 was last Friday. There were about 850 people here in all! Thank you to all who attended to make this
day such a success. Everyone seemed to
really enjoy themselves. The teachers
met many new families that day! The
three families who got the most points on their Scrabble game cards were the
Radosevics’, the Salters’, and the O’Connells’. These families will enjoy their
dress down day at a later date. Congratulations!
Quarter
Ends: The
first quarter of school will be ending on Friday, October 31st. Please encourage your child to
have all things completed by that date.
Conference
Slips:
Report cards will go home with each
child on Wednesday, November 5th, along with a conference slip that will go home
with the oldest child. It is important that these conference
slips be turned back to the teacher on Thursday or Friday, November 6th
or 7th at the latest. Conference times will be arranged
on Monday.
There are
just so many slots that can be arranged for each teacher during the conference
time frame. It is not necessary to see every single teacher during
conference time if your child sees more than one teacher on a given day.
In fairness to families who request a certain time, we would like to schedule
those families during that time. Sometimes you could arrange for a group
conference or if you know that there is a specific problem that needs to be
discussed with a certain teacher and it will take longer than the ten or
fifteen minutes scheduled, then another appointment needs to be set up.
It was discussed at a school committee meeting that time limits need to be
adhered to during conference times by both teachers and parents. We hope
that you will understand our request. Students in grades two through eight need
to accompany the parent to the conference.
Halloween: Students may come
to school in their Halloween outfit on Friday. The traditional parade
will begin around 2:30 PM on Friday, October 31st.
Hot Lunch
Program:
Our Hot lunch program will begin on Monday, November 3rd. Thanks to the
parents who have volunteered to assist in the distribution of food. Since
this is something new, we will continue to make adjustments in the program
until we have it fine-tuned and working well for everyone. Please
continue to watch this Wireless for important messages. Since some of you
ordered lunches for November 7th for 8th graders or the 14th for other
students, we will issue you a credit sheet. That sheet must be returned
along with your check for the December lunches. We will not be returning
money for these lunches. Lunch
confirmation sheets went home with each child on Wednesday.
Sub Lunch: There will be a traditional sub lunch order
taken soon for Tuesday, November 25th. This notice came in too late for the November
calendar. Watch for an order form later
on.
Magazine
Update as of 10/29/2008: Thanks to all of the
families who have taken advantage of the QSP Magazine sale.
To date, these are the contributions from only the magazine sale
profits: Buy out's = 6%, under $50 = 12%, between $50 - $99.99 = 23%, over $100 = 28%,
non participation = 31%. This brings out total profit to $16,743.92 out of
$32,000 needed for the school 2008 - 2009 school budget. I have not received any print out yet for the
gift wrap which I hope will arrive soon.
For those of you who handed in your $150.00 check, I will send that
check back to you if you have reached your quota of $100.00 profit. Again, if
you handed in your check of $150.00 in August, and want me to automatically
cash it, please let me know. Otherwise,
I will keep it until the gift wrap comes in.
If you never handed in the check, I will send a reminder of the amount
that you owe after all profit is recorded.
Election
Day, November 4th:
There are many issues to consider when casting a ballot this year. Thanks
to the following faculty and parents who took the time to come to the Home and
School Meeting last week to hear about the Catholic perspective and
responsibilities in voting from Father Andrew Nelson. Representatives from
the following familes were in attendance: Callen, Dziadulewicz, Gaspar, Guinen,
Hren, Kloser, Mauk, Murtha, Witkowski, Father George, Mrs. Klug, Mrs.
Olszewski, Miss Phillips and myself.
Thank you for attending! I know
time is precious, but so is information.
Prudential
Service Awards:
All students who are putting together their information for the Prudential
Service recognition need to have their forms to Sister Janet on or before Friday, October 31st. Forms will
be reviewed over the weekend and faxed in on Monday to meet the required
deadline. So far I have received two applications and I know that at
least one more student is working on this for sure.
Registration
for 2009-2010: I am beginning to make projections for
enrollment of new K4 students for next year.
If your child is ready and coming next year, please either call or
e-mail to indicate attendance prior to November 7th.

grade on Friday, November 7th.

gathering parties were designed as a way to kick off the annual auction. Each grade hosts a party by a group of
