From the Office

Report Cards and Conferences:  Report cards went home with each student today.  Please review these with your child(ren) and praise or encourage as the case may be.  Conference request forms have been given to the oldest child.  Please complete this form and sign the report card envelope and send both back to school on Thursday, November 6th, or Friday, November 7th.  These are needed to schedule conferences after school on Monday evening, November 10th.  Once again, one conference is required for each child (15 minutes for students K4 through Grade 5 and 10 minutes for Grade 6-8.)  We would like to give all families the chance to have conferences during the scheduled time so the minute time frame will be strictly adhered to this year.  If there is a need to have longer conferences, then an appointment outside of the regular conference times would need to be set up.

Special Thanks:  I would like to thank Mrs. McClellan and Sandra Dempsey, as well as some students, in preparing the display with all of the meaningful artifacts to honor Father Dennis.  A meaningful explanation was given to the students on the celebration of the “Day of the Dead” according to the Mexican tradition.

Middle Schoolers – Recess Rosary:  The Recess Rosary will take place on Thursdays during lunch recess in the Library.  Sorry if switching days has caused any confusion.  Hope to see you there!  Mrs. McNabb and Mrs. Baker

8th Grade Testing:  Students who are attending Catholic High Schools next year are asked to take the entrance exams on Friday, November 7th, or Saturday, November 8th.  There will be no school for all 8th graders on Friday, November 7th.  8th grade students are not to be here at all that day.

Generations of Faith:  The next sessions will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 5:30, Sunday, November 9th at 4:30 and, again, on Wednesday, November 12th at 5:30 P.M.  Families may come for one session only for $10.00 per household.  No reservations needed, just come.

Once again, I have been asked to remind everyone that sports practices and games should not be scheduled during these times.  Also, there should not be homework assignments on Wednesday evening.  Generations of Faith is a parish and school program that all people are encouraged to attend on one of the three dates.

Announcing Our Grant:  Christ King School has received a $500.00 grant from the Exxon Mobil Alliance Program to support the school's technology department, namely a partial donation toward the purchase of a Smartboard. Harry Harrington, Distribution Manager of the Roettgers Company, Inc. worked with our school to secure the grant which is one of 4,000 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations.  This grant is made possible by funding from the Exxon Mobil Corporation.

The Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.  Exxon Mobil believes that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.

We are most grateful to the Roettgers Company for this grant.  Mr. Roettgers has not forgotten about this school even after his children have graduated from Christ King.  We appreciate his generosity.  In the past, this grant money was used to help pay for an elevator in the school in memory of his wife.

Mobil Credit Application:  Attached to this wireless is an application for a Mobil credit card.  If it is filled out and returned, we would receive $25.00 for each application returned.  If you are interested, please participate and help us build up our fundraising account.

A Donation From Fresher Image & Barber Salon: The owner of this shop has donated $50.00 toward our school as a friendly, neighborly gesture.  In turn, she is offering to donate $1.00 to Christ King School for each haircut at her location at 9215 West Center Street.  Consider getting a cut and helping to raise funds for Christ King.  See the flyer in this weeks Wireless, or you can just mention Christ King School.

1st Quarter Computer Grades:  Students in grades K4-5th grade will not be receiving computer grades for 1st quarter, due to my extended absence.  Middle school students will not be receiving a computer grade for the year.  I have limited contact with them during the year, but will provide technology grades for teachers when necessary.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.  Mrs. T.

Attention Middle School Students - Forensics:  It’s time for Forensics season!   All 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students are welcome to join.  We compete in individual and team trophies.  Practices are once a week, and the meets are usually on Friday night or Saturday.  Don’t worry if you’re in Basketball, you still can participate.  You don’t have to go to all the meets.  Choose 1-5 meets, whatever works with your schedule.  The more you attend, the better chances you have to go to the State Tournament in March.  It’s a great activity for anyone who wants to join.  Also, any parents that want to help, please let us know.  No prior experience needed!  To sign up, or if you have any questions, please call Julie Nevsimal 414.449.1079, or E-Mail, jnevsimal@wi.rr.com.
