From
the Office
Special
Thanks: The faculty and staff want to extend a very
blessed Thanksgiving to each of our school families. We hope that you will begin the day with
celebration and prayer together for the many blessings that each has
received. We are thankful for both
spiritual and materials things. But
especially that you have chosen to send your children to a Catholic school and
are giving them a solid educational foundation in both faith
and morals as well as academics.
SPA
Accreditation Visit: Our accreditation visit went well. After the students left, the team met with
the faculty and staff and gave commendations and recommendations regarding our
documentation and programs. As soon as
we get the formal letter from the Archdiocese, I will share this with you. I also want to thank all those who assisted in
any way to make the day a success, from supervising the children, to bringing
in food, to serving as the hospitality group for the day. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
No
School on Wednesday:
Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Wednesday, November
26th. Enjoy an early holiday!
First
Week of Advent:
The liturgical year begins with the First Sunday of Advent which will be
on November 30th. I encourage each
family to begin the year by attending a liturgy together. Another practice is to have an advent wreath
in your home and praying
the advent prayer for each day of the week.
Advent
Wreath:
"The Advent wreath is thought to have origins dating to pre-
Christian Germanic Peoples. The
evergreens symbolize continuous life and depict the immortality of our soul and
the everlasting life promised to us through Christ. The candles represent the four weeks of
Advent. The three purple candles
symbolize the prayer, penance and good works done during Advent. The pink candle, lit on the third Sunday of
Advent, stands for rejoicing, hope and expectation.
The progressive lighting of these candles
symbolizes the expectation and hope surrounding our Lord's first coming into
the world and the anticipation of His second coming to judge the living and the
dead." Quote from Living our Faith
Bulletin insert.
Mad
Science:
Forms went home last Friday reminding families who wish to have their
child participate in the Mad Science classes after school need to register with
the company directly. Presently, we only
have two children registered for the class which meets on December 8th and 15th
and January 5th and 12th at 3:05pm.
Santa's
Secret Workshop: Students will be able to purchase inexpensive Christmas
gifts on Tuesday, December 2nd, at the traditional Santa's Secret Gift Shop
held in the school. Please review the
materials that will be coming home in this regard. It helps if you indicate the amount of money
that is to be spent on each individual.
Parents
Please Note: With the wet and cold weather upon
us, could you please put an extra pair of socks in your child(ren) backpacks. Thank
you!

Market Day: A
great big thank you to all the families who donated to the Market Day Rescue
Mission pie donation event.
We were able to donate 50 pies and lots and lots of Halloween candy. We
earned a profit of $583.00 this month with your help. We would also like
to thank you for your patience, as we dealt with the truck being almost a hour
late and us trying to fill your orders and quickly as we could. Your
patience was greatly appreciated!!
Campbell’s: You have been doing
a great job! We are able to mail in
certain UPC’s and bonus coupons totaling 1,791.
Milk
Caps:
Keep saving those, too. We are
very close to mailing a box of Kemps and a box of Golden Guernsey caps totaling
4,000.
K5
Gift Gathering Party: K5 Parents - Save the Date!
There is a Gift Gathering party
scheduled for February 7th, at the Wirostko

Parish
News
I would
like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the “Invisible
Children Book Drive,” and who, in doing so, supported my classmates and me in
our mission. Your response was both immediate and incredible. At
Christ King, alone, we collected hundreds of books that will be used to further
educate the displaced children in Uganda. I encourage all of you
to visit the Invisible Children website and track the difference that
your donations are making in the lives of many. With your help we are bringing
hope to those who have only known suffering. Thank you!
