Wireless
Distribution:
This wireless will contain information for both the weeks of November
12th and the 19th.
Conference
Requests:
We appreciate all the families who turned in the conference request
forms on time. You should be receiving
the confirmations, along with the Wireless folders today, November 12th. Please save your confirmation sheet until
conference times on the 17th and the 18th.
We look forward to seeing you at your assigned time. Remember, students from grades 2 through 8 need to be in attendance for the conference.
This year we are going by strict times
for conferences. Middle School
conferences will only be the 10 minutes allotted to your family and Grades K4
through Grade 5 will only be 15 minutes.
A signal will be given at the end of the time limit. If more time is needed, then you will need to
schedule another time when there is an opening.
It is in all fairness that each family is assigned a time and we need to
abide by that time for each family. We
appreciate you understanding this to give everyone an opportunity to visit with
the teachers of their child or children.
Thank you in advance!
School Next
Week: Yes,
we have a regular school day on Monday, November 17th, until 3:00 P.M. Conferences will begin later that
afternoon. The only students who need to
come to school on Tuesday are those who need to accompany their parents to
conferences. There is no school on
Wednesday, November 19th, for students.
Classes will resume on Thursday, November 20th.
School
Accreditation Day:
On Thursday, November 20th, we will have 11 guests in our building
beginning at 7:00 A.M. until approximately 4:00P.M. These educators will be reviewing our school
documentation, visiting all classrooms, and speaking with all staff. They may informally speak to the students, as
they see them in the hallways, etc. At
approximately 3:15, they will meet with the staff and give us some feedback on
the day. They will then submit a written
report to the Archdiocese containing commendations and recommendations. We are in year three of a seven year cycle of
school improvement. I would like to
thank all families who submitted documentation via e-mail. We appreciate your comments. I thank those families in advance who have
provided food for the breakfast and the lunch.
Your kindness is appreciated!
Registration
for 2009-2010:
I am beginning to make projections for enrollment of new K4 students for
next year. If your child is ready and
coming next year, please either call or e-mail to indicate attendance.
Mad
Science Classes:
We will be offering the Mad Science classes again after school on Monday
afternoons beginning of November 24th through December
15th. A flyer is coming home with the
students in the younger grades. Payment and registration sheets are due by the
21st of November so that the classes can be formed. Mail directly to Mad Science.
Uniform
Reminders:
It is important to read or reread the uniform policy again. Check skirt length for the girls and shirt
length for the boys. Shorts are not to
be worn beginning in November and continuing until spring. Students are to be wearing shoes with closed
toes and heels during the day. Boots are
reserved for the outside weather. I understand
that some students have been wearing boots during the day instead of
shoes. Also out of uniform passes are to
be used on days that the students do not attend Mass.
True
Meaning of Christmas Poster Contest: Students in grades 1 through 4 will be
bringing home a paper on which to enter a contest sponsored by the Knights of
Columbus. The name information needs to
go on the back of the poster. Children
are encouraged to use crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, magic marker, colored
pens or pen and ink. All ideas should be
original and no paste on will be accepted.
The judging will be on the following criteria: Expression of the Christmas theme = 20
points, Originality = 30 Points and Artistic quality = 50%. All posters are due in Sister Janet's office
on or before Wednesday, December 10th. This
is a home project and entrance in the contest is voluntary, but we have had
many winners in the past, so please encourage your child(ren) to participate.
Original
Artwork - Christmas Gifts: This year, we are excited to be a part of a
special program offered by Original Works – the #1 art based program in the
country. It allows you to have you
child’s own artwork reproduced in many creative ways and at a reasonable price.
During the month of October, all CK
students were involved in creating their own masterpieces in Art class. The students in the primary grades drew
pictures of their families. The
intermediate classes focused on the wonders of God’s creation. Middle school students created action
paintings inspired by the work of artist Jackson Pollock. These were then sent to Original Works to be
turned into magnets.
This week, each participating student
is bringing home their preview magnet and an order form. We hope you like what you see and decide to
purchase the magnet, as well as some other items. (Hint - Only 42 shopping days left until
Christmas!) All orders must be in by Friday,
November 21st. The company has promised that the orders will
be delivered in time for Christmas if we honor our deadline. If you are not interested in ordering, just
return the magnet and the enclosed order form to school. There is no obligation to buy. The proceeds from this project will go
towards the Christ King playground structure.
We hope you are as excited about this opportunity as we are. Happy Shopping!

News
Feast of Christ the King: As
many of you already know, the annual Feast of Christ King celebration takes
place this year on Saturday, November 22, 2008. The event will take place
just after the 4:30 p.m. Mass, and includes a wonderful dinner, fabulous
desserts, fun and fellowship for all who attend. Which
brings me to my next point - the desserts. I'm told that in years
past, several parishioners have been exceedingly kind in donating their time
and talents to preparing desserts for the Feast. As the coordinator for
this year's event, I'm not above making the same request of those willing to
donate desserts. Please contact me at your convenience if you have the
time and are willing to showcase your marvels of dessert perfection to the
cause. Nelson Phillips @ 414.258.1296,

Fall
Food Drive:
Please continue to bring in non perishable food items for our parish
food drive until November 24th. All donations are taken to the Tosa Food Pantry located at St. Bernard's. The pantry is
open from 1:00-3:00 on Mondays and 9:00-11:00 on Saturdays. They are
always in need of donations, especially with this sluggish economy. Last
year the pantry served over 1500 individuals from our local community. This is
a Human Concerns sponsored program and we thank you in advance for your
generosity. Please call Jennifer Radosevic
#476-4482 with any questions or concerns.
CK
Parish Cookbooks:
Are you still looking for Christmas gift ideas? Our Parish
cookbooks make a great gift at only $20.00.
They can be purchased at the school office or the rectory. Also,
they will be on sale at our Christ the King Feast Day celebration
dinner on November 22nd. in the North Hall.
In addition to being a great keepsake
or gift, all proceeds are distributed by the Human Concerns committee to fund
programs to help the less fortunate in our community and to fund projects
within our own parish. Please direct questions to Jennifer Radosevic #476.4482. Thank you and have a blessed
Thanksgiving!
