Mrs. Gerry Klein- Music Specialist

Hi. My name is Gerry Klein and I’m the Music teacher at Christ King School. I teach grades K-4 thru 8th and will meet with your children at least once a week. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. My co-majors were vocal music and communications. Before Christ King, I taught in the Green Bay (Wisconsin) and Fenton (Michigan) school districts.
We are going to have an exciting and dynamic music program this year. Our program is based upon the Orff-Schulwerk process for teaching music. Orff encompasses every aspect of musical behavior: performing, creating, listening and analyzing. With this approach, music is further integrated with movement, hand drumming, dance and speech. Children don’t just listen, but actively participate. Your child’s musical talent will be maximized through a four stage learning process: imitation, exploration, literacy and improvisation.
I am an accomplished vocalist, pianist and organist. In addition to teaching, I have performed on television, recorded professionally and directed numerous youth and adult choirs within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. As a mother of three, I know how important it is to make learning a meaningful and fun experience. Studies have shown that music unlocks the creative potential of the human mind and opens the pathway to educational excellence. I am excited to have this opportunity to share my love of music with your children.
