Hello!
My name is Diana Barkow and I will be teaching the children in first grade,
1B. I am very excited to be a part of the Christ King teaching staff.
I may be a familiar face to many of you because my family and I are parish
members here at Christ King. We have been active members in our faith
since we moved back to Wauwatosa many years ago.
Teaching is a career change for me. Several years ago, I decided to pursue
my dream of becoming a teacher. I left my job as an Interior Designer,
began substitute teaching in Wauwatosa, and attending night classes at
Mount Mary College in education. I have never regretted my decision. I
find teaching extremely rewarding. I currently reside in Wauwatosa with
my husband and two children. I love raising my children in the same neighborhood
that I grew up in!
In my spare time, I really enjoy hanging out with the “men”
in my life. My boys (and husband) are very involved in soccer, baseball,
volleyball, basketball, and golf. When I do have some quiet time to myself,
I enjoy flower gardening, knitting, cooking, arts and crafts, and reading.
I love first grade! It is such an exciting time in a child’s life.
This year is filled with lots of transitions and adjustments. For most
children, it is their first exposure to all day school as well as the
structure of class work. It is my goal to make this an easy and fun transition
for them. My classroom is a very comfortable place where all children
are active participants in learning. I really believe that it takes the
cooperation of both parents and teacher to educate the child. I’m
looking forward to working together to educate the children of Christ
King school.
