Christ King Home and School Association

Christ King Home & School Association is an organization of motivated school families dedicated to the improvement of the educational, spiritual and social development of the students at Christ King School through communication and volunteerism.

It is our mission to promote volunteerism of school families and foster open lines of communication between the School and Home. We strive to have all the families enrolled at Christ King School be actively involved in the operation of our School. We believe that we can best serve our children by the demonstration of our Catholic Faith by gifting our time and talents to Christ King School.  We believe charity is a virtue best taught by example.

BY-LAWS OF THE CHRIST KING HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

(As Amended of May 21, 2007)

ARTICLE I: NAME The name of this association shall be the Christ King Home and School Association, a member of the League of Catholic Home and School Associations of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

ARTICLE I: OBJECTIVES The objectives of this association shall be to coordinate the spiritual and educational forces of the home and school in a program of Catholic child development; to offer through well-developed programs and information of particular interest to parents; to encourage the maintenance of high family life standards by making available in the Home and in school scholarship; to create a greater appreciation of Catholic education; to promote cooperation between all approved Archdiocesan organizations, working for the advancement of Christian education in Catholic home and schools.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP AND DUES

Section 1. Anyperson interested in the objectives as stated in Article II of the bylaws of this association shall be eligible for membership.

Section 2. The dues of the organization shall be determined annually and published in minutes of the June meeting and in the August school packets.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

Section 1. The officers of this association shall be Pastor, Principal, chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, treasurer and trustee. Officers shall be members of the Home and School Association.

Section 2. These officers, with the exception of the Pastor and the Principal, shall be elected as provided in Article IX Section 4, at the annual meeting for a term of two years. These Officers shall hold office for two years and may be re-elected for another term. No officer shall be eligible to the same office for more than two consecutive terms. The secretary and treasurer will be elected in alternate years .The retiring chairpersons will assume the position of trustee for one year.

Section 3. The pastor, principal of the school, and trustee shall be ex-officio members.

Section 4. All officers shall be installed at the last meeting of the school year.

ARTICLE V: MEETINGS

Section I. Three general meetings of the association shall be held between September and May and shall be open to all interested persons. The May meeting shall be designated as the annual meeting at which time annual reports will be read and officers will be elected and installed.

Section 2. The vice-chairperson shall be elected to a two-year term, one year as vice chairperson and one year as chairperson. Upon completion of a one-year term as vice chairperson, this officer shall succeed to the position of chairperson of the Home and School Organization for a one-year term. The vice chairperson shall act as an aide to the chairperson and perform the duties of the chairperson should the chairperson resign.

Section 3. The secretary shall keep an accurate record of all meetings of the association. He or she shall conduct the correspondence, and shall perform each such duties as shall be delegated by the chairperson.

Section 4. The treasurer shall receive all finds of the association, shall keep an accurate account of receipts and expenditures, and shall make only such payments out of funds as are authorized by the association or by the approved annual budget.

Section 5. The chairperson, vice- chairperson, secretary, treasurer, trustee, Pastor and principal shall constitute the Executive Committee which is authorized to implement these by-laws and the proposals approved by the Christ King Home and School Association and the Board.

ARTICLE VI: BOARD

Section 1. The officers of this association together with the pastor, school principal and the chairmen of the standing committees shall constitute the Board of the Association. The chairperson and secretary respectively, will act as Chairperson(s)and secretary of this Board.

Section 2, Board meetings will be held prior to each regular meeting of the Association and at other times as needed. Attendance at Board meetings shall be open to interested members.

Section 3. The duties of the Board shall be to plan the program of the Association, to coordinate the work of the committee chairpersons, to transact the necessary and emergency business which comes up between meetings, and to conduct such other business as may be referred to it by the Association, and to present a report of its proceedings at the regular meetings of the Association.

ARTICLE VII: STANDING COMMITEES

Section I. The standing committee chairpersons to be appointed by the chairperson shall include: program, hospitality, and membership, and any other standing committees necessary to promote the program and objectives of the association. Asa general rule, committees should be formed when necessary and dissolved when no longer needed.

Section 2. The chairperson of all standing and special committees shall present their plans to the executive board for approval. No program may be undertaken without the consent of the board.

Section 3. The chairperson shall appoint two delegates to represent the association at each monthly League meeting.

ARTICLE  VIII: ELECTIONS

Section 1. Nominations for each office shall be presented by a nominating committee, which shall be named at the meeting two months prior to the annual meeting. The nominating committee shall consist of three people to include the chairperson, one person appointed by the chairperson, and one person ‘at large’ appointed by the board.

Section 2. The nominating committee will report the names of the candidates for each office at the election meeting. The nominating committee shall present the names of the candidates to the moderator and  for approval and trustee shall secure the consent of each candidate before presenting the name for any office.

Section 3. Additional nominations may be made from the floor.

Section 4. The election for a single slate of officers shall be conducted by a voiced aye/nay vote of the assembly or by written ballot, according to the discretion of the presiding officer.  A majority of those present shall elect each officer. In the case of nominations from the floor, the election will be conducted by written ballot only.

Section 5. A vacancy occurring in any office except the chairperson shall be filled by the executive committee until the next annual election.

ARTICLE  IX: AMENDMENTS These by-laws may be amended at any regular meeting of the association by a two-thirds vote of the members present and voting, provided the proposed amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous meeting.

 

ARTICLE X: PARLIAMENTARY AUTHORITY  Roberts’ Rules of Order govern the business and meetings of this association, meetings which are not governed by these by-laws shall be governed by Roberts’ Rules of Order Revised.
