Sacraments: First Rec & Eucharist

Children who are entering 2nd grade or above are welcome to prayerfully discern, along with their parents, participation in the Tri-Parish Sacramental Preparation Process. This is an exciting process to enter into, one that allows the child to draw closer to Jesus by receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time.

This process includes:

  1. Submitting your child's baptism record
    1. If your child was not baptized at Christ King, St. Bernard, or St. Pius, a copy of their baptism record/certificate is required.
    2. If your child is not baptized, please contact Samantha to discuss the process (which differs from the one listed).
  2. Initial Parent/Child Information Meeting (Fall 2017)
  3. Weekly Faith Formation
    1. This can be offered during the weekly formation program, Catholic school, or home-school. This formation should be focused on providing an environment where the child can grow as a disciple of Christ.
  4. Commitment to Weekly Mass Attendance
  5. At-Home Preparation
    1. The child and their parent(s) will have a workbook to use that complements their weekly formation so that the child and their family have the opportunity to integrate the life of discipleship into their everyday lives.
  6. Parent/Child Retreats (The child and at least one parent)
    1. First Reconciliation Retreat
    2. First Communion Retreat
  7. Celebration of the Sacraments
    1. First Reconciliation
      1. Monday, January 22nd, 2018 @ 6:00PM; Christ King
    2. First Communion at “Home” Parish
      1. St. Pius X: April 29th, 2018 @ 10:15AM Mass
      2. St. Bernard: May 5th, 2018 @ 10:00AM Mass
      3. Christ King: May 12th, 2018 @ 4:30PM Mass
      4. Christ King: May 13th, 2018 @ 10:30AM Mass
